I know it’s been far too long since I’ve posted anything new… I’m terrible at blogging, and I don’t know if that’s going to change, but I am going to make a more serious effort in future. Since the last time I posted, a lot has happened. I’ve got a new “grown up” job, which takes up quite a bit of my time, but I’m working with children, so it’s quite fulfilling. Writing has been slow-going as of late. I’ve started and paused a few projects, but my favorite one is open in Word right this moment. This one has ... Read More »

Short Story: Kentucky Blue

“Kentucky Blue” Kristen Zimmer Dakota ran. Hard and fast. Now and again, she turned her head to check the woods behind her. She sighed in relief every time she realized there were no signs of anyone following too closely in her wake. The stray branches lining the forest floor cracked beneath the weight of her bare feet. Once or twice, she felt the sharp sting of jagged kindling cutting deep into the flesh of her heels. In spite of this, she did not stop—not even for a second. There was no time to pause and tend to the minor wounds ... Read More »

So, just a quick little update… It’s been a crazy couple of months for me. In late September, my wife and I decided that we were going to pack our entire lives into brown cardboard boxes and move out of New Jersey. Once we came to that conclusion, everything kind of happened in a flash. We spent a month job searching and apartment hunting–which is particularly fun when you have dogs. (Side note: Landlords, what the heck is up with that? I’m writing you a check for a security deposit, anyway, please don’t make me give up my cute, cuddly, totally sweet and unconditionally loving best friend. It’s ... Read More »

All Summer Long

Ok, I admit it. I’m guilty. I’ve taken most of the summer off. I haven’t done much (real) work or writing. It was a much needed vacation, though; traveling always makes me feel better, less restless, somehow. But now that autumn is approaching, I plan on getting back to the grind in a major way. My second book (I have two in the works at the moment. It’s just a matter of which one I feel inspired-enough to finish first) has been shelved for far too long. I really don’t want to be a “one hit wonder” kind of author. Yes, I worry about ... Read More »

Oh, the internet and movie-talk…

So, I was having coffee with some friends last night, and one of them mentioned in passing that she’d read some chatter on the internet about The Gravity Between Us being made into a movie (?) Err, I don’t know. That’s news to me. I can say that I’ve talked about it some with a few filmmaker-types, but no real plans are in the works for a movie adaptation of my little book. I’m happy to hear that people enjoyed it. Hell, I’m even happy to hear that people didn’t enjoy it, because regardless, that means more people than I ever imagined have ... Read More »

My Kingdom for Coffee!

When I was a kid, I had a journal–one of those little black ones with a leather cord to tie around it. I anticipated having tons of exciting things to write about, when in truth, nothing exciting ever happened. That’s kind of how I feel about blogging. The most exciting thing that happened to me lately is that the new barista at my local coffee house kept messing up my order last week. I’m talking seriously screwing the whole thing up three days in a row. My order is always the same, and has been since I was roughly 16: ... Read More »
